Joyce Friedman
Also known as Joyce Barbara Friedman
Joyce Friedman helped program MITRE Grammar and wrote about computer systems for transformational grammar. She completed a Harvard PhD in logic in 1965 and authored a COLING preprint on a computer system for transformational grammar in 1969. She served as president of the Association for Computational Linguistics in 1971 and published work on Montague grammar semantics in 1978. In 1986, she became an AAAS Fellow and coauthored a Boston University report on French dictation. By June 1994, she was a full professor of computer science at Boston University; she died in 2018.
