Junjun Jiang

Also known as Jiang Junjun, Jun-Jun Jiang, 江俊君

Junjun Jiang is a computer vision researcher at Harbin Institute of Technology who works on image super-resolution and restoration. After a mathematics degree at Huaqiao University in 2009 and a doctorate in computer science at Wuhan University in 2014, he served as an associate professor at China University of Geosciences in Wuhan and as a project researcher at the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo. He joined Harbin Institute of Technology as a professor in 2018 and, in 2020, coauthored the SSPSR network for single hyperspectral image super-resolution. Surveys of face super-resolution in 2021 and all-in-one image restoration in 2024 followed, and in 2025 he was first among the Harbin contributors to a work that won the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Natural Science first prize. He is a professor in the Faculty of Computing at Harbin Institute of Technology.

Timeline

  1. 2009–2014

    A Wuhan University doctorate

He receives a B.S. in mathematics from Huaqiao University in 2009 and a Ph.D. in computer science from Wuhan University in 2014.

  2. 2015–2018

    Associate professor in Wuhan

He serves as an associate professor of computer science at China University of Geosciences in Wuhan from 2015 to 2018.

  3. 2016–2018

    Researcher at Tokyo's NII

From 2016 to 2018, he works as a project researcher at the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo.

  4. 2018

Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology

In 2018, he becomes a full professor of computer science at Harbin Institute of Technology.

  5. 2020

    A hyperspectral super-resolution network

In 2020, he coauthors Learning Spatial-Spectral Prior for Super-Resolution of Hyperspectral Imagery with He Sun, Xianming Liu and Jiayi Ma. The paper presents SSPSR, a residual-learning network for single hyperspectral image super-resolution that uses a spatial-spectral prior network, group convolution and progressive upsampling, and IEEE Transactions on Computational Imaging accepts it.

  6. 2021–2024

    Two image restoration surveys

In 2021, he coauthors a survey of deep learning-based face super-resolution with Chenyang Wang, Xianming Liu and Jiayi Ma, accepted to ACM Computing Surveys. In October 2024, he posts a survey of all-in-one image restoration with Zengyuan Zuo, Gang Wu, Kui Jiang and Xianming Liu; the approach handles several kinds of image degradation in one unified framework.

  7. 2025

A first prize in natural science

In 2025, the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award gives its natural science first prize to Spatiotemporal Spectral Visual Structure Perception and Robust Learning Theory, and he is first among the Harbin Institute of Technology contributors, with Xianming Liu fourth. The university reports the result in March 2026.

  8. As of October 2026

Professor in the Faculty of Computing

As of October 2026, he is a professor in the Faculty of Computing at Harbin Institute of Technology.
