Yike Guo

Also known as 郭毅可, Guo Yike

Yike Guo is provost of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and director of the Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Center. He received a first-class honours degree in computing science from Tsinghua University in 1985 and a PhD from Imperial College London in 1994, then joined Imperial in 1997 and became a professor in 2002. In 2014 he founded the Data Science Institute at Imperial College London, and his research focuses on machine learning and data mining. In 2018 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and in 2020 he became vice-president of research and development at Hong Kong Baptist University. In June 2025 he was director of that center, which had developed a large language model, and in November 2025 he was elected an international member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

    In June 2025 he is provost of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and director of the Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Center, which has developed a large language model.

    He is elected an international member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in November 2025, while serving as provost of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
