Philip R. Cohen
Also known as Philip Cohen
Philip Cohen studies how intelligent agents represent beliefs, goals, intentions, and commitments. Cohen and Hector J. Levesque co-authored Intention Is Choice with Commitment, published in Artificial Intelligence in March 1990. The paper studies formal principles linking an agent’s beliefs, goals, actions, and intentions. The shared formalism makes explicit the conditions under which an agent can abandon its goals. It uses these commitments to analyse properties of intention and provide specifications for artificial agents.
