Jie Zhou
Also known as 周杰
Jie Zhou is a Tsinghua professor whose pattern-recognition and computer-vision work includes biometric recognition and visual search. He studied mathematics at Nankai University, earned a doctorate in pattern recognition and artificial intelligence at HUST, and joined Tsinghua as a postdoctoral fellow. He and Jinwei Gu published a CVPR model for fingerprint orientation in 2003; in 2015, Zhou coauthored a deep-hashing method for large-scale visual search. He became an IAPR Fellow in 2016 for contributions to biometrics, computer vision, and image processing. As of October 2026, he is a professor, head of Tsinghua's Department of Automation, and associate dean of its School of Information Science and Technology.
