Bruno Lepri
Bruno Lepri leads the Mobile and Social Computing Lab at FBK. He received a Marie Curie Fellowship in 2010 and spent three years doing postdoctoral work at the MIT Media Lab. The lab studies human mobility, urban conditions, graph neural networks, and cooperative AI. In 2024, he co-authored work testing language models as next-location predictors. That paper evaluated models on mobility data and examined possible data contamination. His work connects concrete machine learning methods with questions about individual and collective behaviour.

2010
A fellowship and MIT research
Lepri received a Marie Curie Fellowship in 2010 that supported three years of postdoctoral work at the MIT Media Lab. He also earned a computer science doctorate from Trento.

Learning from human behaviour data
The MobS lab develops computational methods for human mobility, urban crime, unemployment, and segregation. It uses data such as mobile phone records and transactions. Its goal is to understand individual and collective behaviour through models that can be checked against data.

2024
Language models and mobility prediction
Lepri co-authored a paper with Ciro Beneduce and Massimiliano Luca on language models as next-location predictors. The manuscript was first submitted in May 2024. It tests language models on real mobility datasets and examines predictions in settings with limited individual information.

Graphs and cooperative agents
The MobS lab also studies graph neural network methods and explainability. Its cooperative AI work develops and evaluates language-model social agents and ways to coordinate several AI agents.
