W. Eric L. Grimson
W. Eric L. Grimson studies computer vision and medical image analysis, including computational models of visual surface representation. Grimson published From Images to Surfaces with MIT Press. The book presents a computational approach to recovering three-dimensional surface representations from images. It examines an implementation of the human stereo vision theory of David Marr and Tomaso Poggio, then considers surface interpolation. The earlier theory’s authors remain credited. He earlier served as an MIT department head and chancellor and taught introductory programming, including an online MITx course.
