Swarat Chaudhuri
Swarat Chaudhuri is a professor of computer science at UT Austin, where his work lies in the intersection of formal methods and artificial intelligence. At Google DeepMind he is a senior staff research scientist, and the credits for AlphaEvolve, DeepMind's AI system for algorithm discovery, name him among its developers. He earned a bachelor's degree from IIT Kharagpur in 2001 and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. He served as a program chair for CAV 2016, and he joined UT Austin in 2020 after faculty posts at Penn State and Rice. In 2025 he became a Guggenheim Fellow, and his lab's Copra agent asks a large language model to predict the next step in a mathematical proof.
