Scott Wen-tau Yih
Scott Wen-tau Yih received his Illinois doctorate in 2005. He worked at Microsoft Research from 2005 to 2017 and held an Ai2 research role from 2017 to 2019. Yih coauthored Dense Passage Retrieval and Retrieval-Augmented Generation. These projects connect learned text retrieval with answering questions and generating language from retrieved information. Yih is a research scientist at Meta FAIR, where he works on neural retrieval and retrieval-augmented generation for text and multimodal language models. He became an ACL Fellow in 2024.
