Nirmal Bose
Also known as Nirmal K. Bose, Nirmal Kumar Bose
Nirmal Bose was an electrical engineer and Penn State professor whose work connected multidimensional systems with artificial neural networks. He earned electrical engineering degrees at IIT Kharagpur, Cornell and Syracuse, then taught at Syracuse and Pittsburgh before joining Penn State in 1986. His books included Digital Filters: Theory and Applications and Neural Network Fundamentals, and he founded the journal Multidimensional Systems and Signal Processing in 1990. He received the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Education Award in 2007 and died during a sabbatical at the University of Wuppertal in 2009.
