Researcher

Gang Li

Professor Gang Li researches artificial intelligence, data privacy, machine learning and business intelligence at Deakin University. He joined Deakin's School of Information Technology in 2001, and his coauthored work received the KSEM 2018 Best Paper award. He served as a chief investigator on an Australian Research Council project to build privacy-preserving cloud data sharing and directed Deakin's D2i Research Centre from 2020 to 2023. He coauthored a 2023 paper on using generative models against adversarial attacks on tabular data, a 2024 audio-visual speech paper accepted at NeurIPS, and a 2025 paper on provably robust reinforcement learning accepted at USENIX Security. As of October 2026, he is a professor in Deakin's School of Information Technology.
