Christina Montgomery

Christina Montgomery is a lawyer whose work centers on how large companies govern AI. She joined IBM in 1994 as an attorney supporting IBM Sales, and since 2019 the company's AI Ethics Board has been co-chaired by her and Francesca Rossi. In April 2022 she was named to the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee, which advises the president on AI policy, and in May 2023 she testified before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee on AI oversight. As of October 2026, she is chief privacy and trust officer and assistant general counsel at General Motors. She is also vice chair of the International Association of Privacy Professionals' board for 2026.

    An attorney supporting IBM Sales

    She has a B.A. from Binghamton University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and she joins IBM in 1994 as an attorney supporting IBM Sales.

    Co-chairing IBM's AI Ethics Board

    Since 2019, IBM's AI Ethics Board has two co-chairs: she and Francesca Rossi. The board is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the governance and decision-making process for AI ethics policies and practices.

  3. April 2022

    A federal AI advisory seat

    In April 2022 the Commerce Department names her to the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee, a group formed to advise the president and federal agencies on AI policy.

  4. May 2023

    Testimony on AI oversight

    In May 2023 she testifies before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee at a hearing on AI oversight, where IBM urges Congress to adopt a precision regulation approach to AI.

  5. 2026

    Vice chair of the IAPP board

    For 2026 she is vice chair of the International Association of Privacy Professionals' board of directors.

    Privacy and trust at General Motors

    She is chief privacy and trust officer and assistant general counsel at General Motors, overseeing privacy strategy and compliance, including data and AI governance.
