Researcher

Chee Peng Lim

Chee Peng Lim is an AI researcher whose work includes pattern classification, data analytics and decision support. He earned a PhD in intelligent systems from Sheffield in 1997 and co-authored a 2020 review of generalized zero-shot learning, which studies classification when some output classes are unknown during supervised training. At Deakin, he presented soft-computing models for intelligent data analytics in 2022 and spoke at an AI research and entrepreneurship seminar in December 2023 as a Professor of Computational Intelligence. By 2025, he was a professor in Swinburne's Department of Computing Technologies. In March 2026, he was part of Swinburne's Heads Up Safe Route team, which secured $432,000 to develop real-time detection of overhead hazards for heavy vehicles; as of October 2026, he is a Professor of Computational Intelligence in that department.
