Researcher

Jean-Luc Dugelay

Jean-Luc Dugelay is a computer-vision researcher whose work spans biometrics, face recognition and deepfake detection. Born in Rouen, he completed a PhD at the University of Rennes in 1992 and joined EURECOM in 1993. His coauthored deep-learning paper on apparent-age estimation took first place in the 2016 ChaLearn challenge, and a 2025 paper examines facial behavior for deepfake detection. IEEE named him a Fellow in 2012, and IAPR named him a Fellow in 2018 for contributions to face recognition and soft biometrics; he served as founding editor-in-chief of an EURASIP image and video journal until May 2024. He is a professor in EURECOM's Digital Security Department and serves as a Member-at-Large on the IEEE Signal Processing Society Board of Governors.
