Petra Perner
Petra Perner is a computer scientist who applies case-based reasoning, machine learning and data mining to the interpretation of images. Her training runs from a diploma in electrical engineering in 1981 and a PhD in computer science in 1985 to a habilitation on knowledge-based image-interpretation systems in 1989. She published a knowledge-based image-inspection system in 1994, an architecture for case-based image segmentation in 1999 and the Springer work Data Mining on Multimedia Data in 2002, and IAPR named her a Fellow in 2006. By 2019, she directed the Institute of Computer Vision and Applied Computer Sciences IBaI in Leipzig. As of October 2026, she is director of the FutureLab Artificial Intelligence IBaI-2.
Timeline
