Sarit Kraus
Sarit Kraus researches intelligent agents, multi-agent systems and formal reasoning. She received her Hebrew University computer science PhD in 1989. With Daniel Lehmann and Menachem Magidor, she coauthored the 1990 paper on nonmonotonic consequence relations and their models. Her later shared work includes a 2019 proposal for explaining decisions in multi-agent environments. She received the 2023 IJCAI Research Excellence Award for work on agent interaction, negotiation, coalitions and teamwork.

Timeline
-
1989
Planning and communication research
Kraus received her computer science PhD from the Hebrew University in 1989. Kraus researches intelligent agents and multi-agent systems, including interactions among people and robots.
-
1990
Formal models for revisable conclusions
With Daniel Lehmann and Menachem Magidor, she studied nonmonotonic reasoning: conclusions that can change when new information arrives. The paper defines families of consequence relations and relates proof rules to semantic models. Its journal publication was in July 1990; the arXiv copy was deposited later.

2019
Explaining decisions among agents
Kraus coauthored a proposal for explanations in multi-agent environments. The paper considers how other agents’ preferences, fairness and privacy affect a useful explanation. It proposes the xMASE research direction and reviews methods.

2023
Recognition for agent interaction
She received the IJCAI Research Excellence Award in 2023. The award recognizes her work on self-interested agents, automated negotiation, coalition formation and teamwork. This recognition covers both formal models and real-world implementations.
