Researcher

Robin R Murphy

Also known as Robin Roberson Murphy, Robin R. Murphy, Robin Murphy

Robin R Murphy's research applies artificial intelligence and robotics to disasters. After a computer science PhD at Georgia Tech in 1992, she began disaster robotics research in 1995, motivated by the Oklahoma City bombing. After the 9/11 attacks, her team worked at Ground Zero for 12 days, and she directed the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue from 2002 to 2018. She arrived at Texas A&M in 2008, and ACM and AAAS later named her a Fellow. She retired from Texas A&M in May 2025 and holds a courtesy professorship at Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute.
