Researcher

Noam Rozen

Noam Rozen is an AI researcher whose papers range from generative modeling on manifolds to hybrid language models. As an MSc student in Yaron Lipman's group at the Weizmann Institute of Science, they coauthored Moser Flow, which received a NeurIPS 2021 Outstanding Paper Award. In 2022 they coauthored the MRKL Systems preprint on combining neural models with discrete knowledge and reasoning modules, and in 2024 they coauthored Jamba and Jamba-1.5, hybrid Transformer-Mamba language models; Jamba appeared at ICLR in 2025. A patent on modular reasoning, knowledge and language systems that names them among its inventors was granted to AI21 Labs in July 2026.

Timeline

  1. 2021

    Moser Flow at Weizmann

As an MSc student in Yaron Lipman's group in the Computer Science and Applied Mathematics Department at the Weizmann Institute of Science, they coauthor Moser Flow with Aditya Grover, Maximilian Nickel and Lipman. The paper, posted in August 2021, introduces a class of continuous normalizing flows for generative modeling on manifolds such as spheres, tori and other implicit surfaces.

  2. 2021

    A NeurIPS Outstanding Paper Award

Moser Flow receives an Outstanding Paper Award at NeurIPS 2021, one of six papers selected from 9,122 submissions. Aditya Grover, Maximilian Nickel and Yaron Lipman share the award as coauthors.

  3. 2022

    The MRKL Systems architecture

In 2022, they are among the coauthors of the MRKL Systems preprint, which defines a flexible architecture with multiple neural models, complemented by discrete knowledge and reasoning modules.

  4. March 2024

    The Jamba language model

In March 2024, they are among the coauthors of Jamba, a base language model with a hybrid Transformer-Mamba mixture-of-experts architecture. The model interleaves blocks of Transformer and Mamba layers.

  5. 2024–2025

    Jamba-1.5 and ICLR 2025

In August 2024, they are among the authors of Jamba-1.5, instruction-tuned models released as Jamba-1.5-Large with 94B active parameters and Jamba-1.5-Mini with 12B active parameters. The original Jamba paper appears at ICLR in 2025.

  6. July 2026

    A patent on modular reasoning

In July 2026, US patent 12,682,184, titled Modular reasoning, knowledge, and language systems, is granted with AI21 Labs as assignee. They are one of its named inventors, alongside Yoav Shoham, Barak Lenz, Opher Lieber and others.
