Jose C. Principe
Also known as C. Principe, J C Principe, J Principe, J. C. Principe, J. Principe, José Carlos Príncipe
Jose Principe is a retired University of Florida professor whose AI research spans neural networks, information-theoretic learning and brain-machine interfaces. He studied electrical engineering at Porto and UF, then joined UF's faculty in 1987. At UF, he founded the Computational NeuroEngineering Laboratory in 1991 and received the IEEE Neural Network Pioneer Award in 2011. He coauthored a paper on information-theoretic analysis of autoencoders in 2018. He plans to continue research with colleagues after retiring in 2026.
