Martial Hebert

Martial Hebert is a Carnegie Mellon University researcher in computer vision, robotics and artificial intelligence. He earned a doctorate in computer science at the University of Paris and joined the Robotics Institute in 1984. He became director of the Robotics Institute in 2014 and dean of the School of Computer Science in August 2019. The university named him a University Professor in 2022 and reappointed him to a second term as dean in June 2024. As of October 2026, he is dean of the Griffin School of Computer Science.
