Researcher

Arnaud Doucet

Arnaud Doucet is a statistician whose AI research includes generative models. Born in 1970, he earned a PhD at University Paris-XI (Orsay) in 1997 and held academic posts in Melbourne, Cambridge, British Columbia, and Japan before becoming Professor of Statistics at Oxford in 2011. He joined Google DeepMind as a Senior Staff Research Scientist in 2019 and moved to full-time work there in April 2023. His coauthored Riemannian Score-Based Generative Modelling extended score-based generative models to Riemannian manifolds and was named among NeurIPS's 2022 Outstanding Papers; he received the Guy Medal in Silver in 2020 and the Akaike Memorial Award in 2024. As of October 2026, he leads a generative AI team at Google DeepMind and is a Visiting Professor of Statistics at Oxford.
