Jeffrey S. Rosenschein
Jeffrey Rosenschein studies interaction among automated agents, including how rules of negotiation shape their behaviour. Rosenschein and Gilad Zlotkin co-authored Rules of Encounter: Designing Conventions for Automated Negotiation among Computers. MIT Press published it on July 12, 1994. The book is a shared contribution to multi-agent research. The book applies game theory to rules governing interaction between computer systems with different goals. It studies protocol design intended to constrain manipulation and support automated negotiation and coordination.

Connecting designers and agents
The authors examine how rules of public interaction affect designers’ private strategies and their programs’ behaviour. This connects the design of an artificial society with the incentives of the people who build its agents.
