Wei-ge Chen
Wei-ge Chen has worked on audio and video coding and, more recently, on multimodal and synthetic-data research. A Microsoft patent application for multi-resolution video coding, claiming 2002 and 2003 priority dates, named him as an inventor. From 2008 to 2011 he coauthored three Microsoft Research papers on low-bitrate audio coding and realistic audio for video conferencing, each with Sanjeev Mehrotra. In 2023 he coauthored LLaVA-Interactive, an all-in-one demo for image chat, segmentation, generation and editing. In July 2024 he also coauthored AgentInstruct, a paper on generative teaching with agentic flows and synthetic data.
