Researcher

Or Litany

Or Litany is a computer vision researcher who works on 3D data and generative models at NVIDIA Research and the Technion. After a PhD at Tel Aviv University under Alex Bronstein, he coauthored the VoteNet 3D detection paper in 2019 and, during a Stanford postdoc, co-wrote the ICML 2020 Outstanding Paper On Learning Sets of Symmetric Elements. He joined the Technion's Taub Faculty of Computer Science in 2023, and in 2026 his group presented Time to Move, a way to steer motion in AI-generated video with mouse movements. He is a Senior Research Scientist at NVIDIA Research, an Assistant Professor at the Technion and an ELLIS Scholar.

Timeline

  1. 2017

    Deep Functional Maps

He holds a PhD from Tel Aviv University, advised by Alex Bronstein, and a BSc in physics and mathematics from the Hebrew University. In 2017, he is first author of Deep Functional Maps, a deep residual network that predicts functional maps for dense correspondence between deformable 3D shapes, accepted at ICCV 2017.

  2. 2019

    VoteNet for 3D detection

In 2019, he coauthors Deep Hough Voting for 3D Object Detection in Point Clouds with Charles R. Qi, Kaiming He and Leonidas Guibas. The paper introduces VoteNet, an end-to-end 3D detection network built on deep point set networks and Hough voting, which reaches state-of-the-art results on ScanNet and SUN RGB-D and is an ICCV 2019 Best Paper nominee.

  3. 2020

    An ICML Outstanding Paper

As a postdoctoral research fellow in Leonidas Guibas's Geometric Computation Group at Stanford, he coauthors On Learning Sets of Symmetric Elements with Haggai Maron, Gal Chechik and Ethan Fetaya. The paper wins one of the two ICML 2020 Outstanding Paper Awards.

  4. 2023

    Joining the Technion faculty

In 2023, he joins the Taub Faculty of Computer Science at the Technion as a senior lecturer, after being selected as an Azrieli Faculty Fellow and a Taub Fellow. His research there deals with deep learning for computer vision, with an emphasis on 3D and geometry.

  5. July 2023

    Neural lidar fields at NVIDIA

In July 2023, he co-writes an NVIDIA technical blog post with Zan Gojcic and Zian Wang on neural lidar fields, which synthesize realistic lidar scans from new viewpoints for autonomous-vehicle simulation. He is then a Senior Research Scientist in NVIDIA's Toronto AI Lab and an incoming Technion assistant professor, after postdoc posts at Stanford and Meta Research (FAIR).

  6. 2026

    Time to Move video control

His Technion group presents Time to Move (TTM) at ICLR 2026, led with Ron Kimmel and students Assaf Singer, Noam Rotstein and Amir Mann. TTM steers motion in AI-generated video from mouse movements through dual-clock denoising, and it plugs into existing video models without retraining.

  7. May 2026

    CVPR Outstanding Area Chair

In May 2026, he receives the Outstanding Area Chair award at CVPR 2026.

  8. As of October 2026

    NVIDIA and Technion roles

He is a Senior Research Scientist at NVIDIA Research and an Assistant Professor at the Technion, specializing in 3D computer vision and generative AI. He is also an ELLIS Scholar affiliated with the Technion.
