Mark Heimann
Mark Heimann is a research scientist whose AI work spans graph learning, scientific applications and language models. He earned an undergraduate degree from Washington University in 2015 and a computer science PhD at the University of Michigan in 2020, where he worked in the GEMS Lab with Danai Koutra. He developed REGAL for matching nodes across networks and applied graph neural networks to molecular modeling, scientific image segmentation and software analysis at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He coauthored papers on gene-interaction prediction with language models in 2024 and conformal edge-weight prediction in 2025, and FIDE awarded him the grandmaster title in 2025. Since August 2026, he is a research scientist at Ivo, where he works on post-training methods for knowledge-intensive domains such as law.
