Researcher

Hisao Ishibuchi

Hisao Ishibuchi is an AI researcher whose work spans evolutionary multiobjective optimization, fuzzy-rule learning and general-purpose AI system design. He studied at Kyoto University and Osaka Prefecture University, spent 30 years at Osaka Prefecture University, and coauthored a 1995 paper on genetic selection of fuzzy classification rules. He received the JSPS Prize in 2007, became an IEEE Fellow in 2014, served as IEEE CIS Vice-President for Technical Activities from 2010 to 2013, and edited IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine from 2014 to 2019. He is Chair Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at SUSTech, and his recent work examines evolutionary optimization and general-purpose AI design.
