Bruce Reed

Bruce Reed is Head of AI at Common Sense Media, a post he took up in 2025 after serving in the Biden White House. Earlier he served as chief domestic policy adviser to President Bill Clinton and as chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden. In the White House he worked as deputy chief of staff, and he led the government-wide policy effort behind Biden's AI executive order on safe and responsible AI. He is set to lead the Youth AI Safety Institute, which Common Sense Media launched in May 2026. TIME named him one of the 100 most influential people in AI in 2025.

    Biden names him deputy chief of staff in December 2020.

  5. 2023

    Biden's AI executive order

    In 2023 he leads the government-wide policy effort behind the executive order on safe and responsible AI.

  6. March 2025

    Head of Common Sense AI

    He joins Common Sense Media as Head of Common Sense AI in March 2025, coming from the White House.

    On TIME's 2025 AI list

    TIME names him one of the 100 most influential people in AI in 2025.

  8. May 2026

    Heading the Youth AI Safety Institute

    Common Sense Media launches the Youth AI Safety Institute in May 2026. Bruce Reed, who is Head of AI at Common Sense Media, is set to lead it.
