Christophe Fouquet

Christophe Fouquet is president and CEO of ASML, the Dutch company whose extreme ultraviolet machines print some of the most complex layers of advanced chips, including those used for artificial intelligence. He holds a physics master's degree from the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble and worked at Applied Materials and KLA-Tencor before joining ASML in 2008. After running ASML's EUV business from 2018 to 2022, he became CEO in April 2024. European Business Media gave him its European Manager of the Year award in 2026. In July 2026 ASML raised its sales outlook, citing strong AI-driven demand for advanced chipmaking equipment.

  1. 1997–2008

    Applied Materials and KLA-Tencor

    He holds a physics master's degree from the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble. He works as a global product manager at Applied Materials from 1997 to 2001, then as director of marketing at KLA-Tencor from 2003 to 2008.

  2. 2008–2018

    Applications business at ASML

    He joins ASML in 2008 in marketing and product management. He leads ASML's Applications business from 2013 to 2018.

  3. 2018–2022

    The EUV lithography business

    He runs ASML's EUV business from 2018 to 2022. In 2022 he becomes chief business officer.

  4. November 2023–April 2024

    Named ASML's next CEO

    In November 2023 ASML's Supervisory Board names him its next president and CEO. He starts the role in April 2024.

  5. November 2025

    A CEO Dialogue with IMD

    In November 2025 IMD publishes his CEO Dialogue with Jean-François Manzoni on how ASML became Europe's most indispensable company.

  6. July 2026

    Raising the 2026 sales outlook

    In July 2026 ASML raises its 2026 sales outlook, citing strong AI-driven demand for advanced chipmaking equipment. Its extreme ultraviolet machines print some of the most complex layers of advanced chips, including those used for artificial intelligence.

  7. September 2026

    European Manager of the Year

    In September 2026 he receives the European Manager of the Year 2026 award from European Business Media, presented in Lisbon.

  8. Since 2024

    ASML's chief executive role

    He is ASML's president and CEO.
