Computer science at IIT Kharagpur
He grows up in Jamshedpur, India. From 1995 to 1999, he studies computer science and engineering at IIT Kharagpur, earning a BTech with honours in 1999.
-
September 2005
From Cornell to Microsoft Research
He completes a PhD in Cornell University's Department of Computer Science in September 2005, with Ken Birman as his adviser. His doctoral research produces VirtualWiFi, and he joins Microsoft Research's Networking Group in Redmond, Washington, in 2005.
-
August 2009
WhiteFi and a SIGCOMM award
In August 2009, he coauthors “White Space Networking with Wi-Fi like Connectivity,” which introduces WhiteFi, a wireless system that uses UHF white spaces. The paper wins the SIGCOMM 2009 Best Paper Award.
-
2015
Starting Project FarmBeats
He starts and leads Project FarmBeats at Microsoft in 2015. The platform collects farm data and tracks it using cloud computing models, giving agricultural technology companies a basis for their own tools.
-
2020–2022
IEEE and ACM fellowships
