Dylan Patel

Dylan Patel is a semiconductor analyst whose SemiAnalysis work covers the infrastructure behind AI. He earned a few degrees in fields outside semiconductors, worked two years as a quant at a small quant risk firm, and began consulting alongside his job in 2017 before going full time in 2020. He launched SemiAnalysis as a real-name blog with two posts on his 24th birthday in 2020, then started the newsletter on Substack in 2021. In December 2024, he joined Azeem Azhar on Exponential View to discuss AI in 2025, then joined an a16z discussion of AI chips, data centers and infrastructure strategy in August 2025.
