Battista Biggio
Battista Biggio is a professor at the University of Cagliari in Italy, and his research centers on adversarial machine learning. He completed an MSc in 2006 and a PhD in 2010, and in 2012 his team demonstrated poisoning attacks on machine-learning algorithms at ICML. ICML gave his poisoning paper on support vector machines a Test of Time Award in 2022, and his Wild Patterns overview won a Best Paper Award in 2021. He chaired IAPR TC1 from 2016 to 2020, and the International Association for Pattern Recognition named him a Fellow in 2026. He is also research co-director of AI Security at the sAIfer lab, a virtual lab founded in 2024.
