Christian Hubicki
As of October 2026, Christian Hubicki is an associate professor of mechanical engineering at FAMU-FSU and directs the Optimal Robotics Laboratory, whose team creates algorithms for robots to navigate complex, real-world environments. His early work began in Bucknell's Robotics Laboratory in 2005, where he studied industrial robot-manipulator precision, and he graduated with honors in mechanical engineering in 2007. He earned a 2015 doctorate in robotics and mechanical engineering at Oregon State, applying optimal control to ground-running birds and compliant legged robots; he joined Georgia Tech's AMBER lab in 2015 and its CRAB lab in 2017. In 2021, he received a $750,000 Toyota Research Institute grant, and his later work included a 2023 IROS paper on failure-adaptive control and a 2025 IEEE CASE paper on parameter-regression MPC.
