Anuj Srivastava
Anuj Srivastava is a statistician whose work on nonlinear manifolds and shape analysis has contributed methods for pattern recognition and statistical computer vision. He earned an electronics engineering degree at IIT-BHU in 1990 and master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering at Washington University in 1993 and 1996. He coauthored a 2015 paper on elastic shape analysis of spherical surfaces and, with Eric P. Klassen, the 2016 textbook Functional and Shape Data Analysis. He is a full professor in applied mathematics and statistics at Johns Hopkins University and is affiliated with its Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Institute.

He earns a B.Tech in Electronics Engineering from IIT-BHU in 1990 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 1993 and 1996.
-
1997
Joining Florida State
He joins Florida State University's Department of Statistics as an assistant professor in 1997.
-
2003–2007
Promotion at Florida State
He serves as an associate professor from 2003 to 2006 and becomes a full professor in 2007.
-
2014
A professorship and IAPR fellowship
Florida State recognizes him as a Distinguished Research Professor in 2014. IAPR elects him a Fellow in 2014 for contributions to statistical techniques on nonlinear manifolds for applications in pattern recognition and shape analysis of curves and surfaces.
-
2015
A framework for surface shapes
In 2015, he and Alice Barbara Tumpach, Hassen Drira, and Mohamed Daoudi describe a framework for computing geodesic paths in shape spaces of spherical surfaces with an elastic Riemannian metric. His research follows Grenander's school of pattern theory.
