Edward Hughes
Also known as Ed Hughes
Edward Hughes is co-founder and chief scientist of Inherent, a London-based lab building AI that discovers new knowledge. His research spans multi-agent reinforcement learning, as in a 2019 ICML paper on social influence, and open-endedness, the subject of a 2024 ICML position paper. He co-authored Genie: Generative Interactive Environments, which received an ICML 2024 Best Paper award. In July 2024 DeepMind announced that AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2 reached silver-medal standard on International Mathematical Olympiad problems, and he was among AlphaProof's key contributors.
