José Ruiz-Shulcloper

Also known as Jose Ruiz-Shulcloper

José Ruiz-Shulcloper is a researcher in pattern recognition whose work includes feature relevance and typical testors. He received the Pablo Miquel National Mathematics Medal in 1986 and coauthored a paper on feature relevance and typical fuzzy testors in 1995. From 1996 to 1999, he was a Level I member of Mexico's National System of Researchers; he received the Academy of Sciences of Cuba's annual research prize in 1998 and a national award for a second-level doctoral thesis in 2010, and coauthored a paper on weighted partition consensus via kernels in 2010. He became an IAPR Fellow in 2012, was an invited professor at the Universidad Central de las Villas Marta Abreu in 2013, and received an honorary doctorate from INAOE in 2014 while working at CENATAV in Havana. In 2023, he coauthored RegularSearch and served as president of the Cuban Association; as of October 2026, he represents Cuba on IAPR's Governing Board.
