Anne Cutler (1945–2022) was a psycholinguist who studied how listeners recognize spoken language. Her career ran from postdoctoral posts at MIT and Sussex to a directorship at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen. The ISCA Medal for Scientific Achievement, which honors contributions to speech communication science and technology, came to her in 2014, and she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2015.
