Gustau Camps-Valls
Camps-Valls worked on kernel methods for segmentation, denoising, interpolation and compression from 2005 to 2013. He also coauthored a textbook on kernel-based digital signal processing. He used neural networks and kernel machines for classification, parameter retrieval and change detection in satellite imagery. This connects learning algorithms with observations of the Earth. He coauthored a 2019 Nature study on deep learning and process understanding in Earth-system science and a 2023 review on causal inference for time-series analysis. His research combines physical knowledge and data-driven models.
