Christopher Savoie
Christopher Savoie is an AI builder whose career spans natural-language systems, computational biology, quantum software, and industrial AI agents. He grew up in Rhode Island, studied biology at the University of Rhode Island, and completed a molecular medicine doctorate at Kyushu University. His Dejima voice interface became the basis for Siri, and he later led Gene Networks, Kyulux, and Zapata Computing. As of October 2026, he is co-founder and CEO of SiC Systems, which develops agentic AI for industrial processes.
Timeline
-
1992
A biology degree at URI
Born in Warwick, he grows up in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. In 1992, he earns a biology degree at URI after three years of study and completes a molecular medicine doctorate at Kyushu University.
-
1997–1998
Dejima's voice-command AI
In 1997, he and Babak Hodjat begin an AI program for natural-language voice commands. By 1998, their Dejima system relays spoken instructions to a VCR; its interface later becomes the basis for Siri.
-
2007
Gene networks for drug discovery
In 2007, he is chairman and CEO of Gene Networks, Inc., which he founds with colleagues in medicine and genomics to apply computational modeling to drug development.
-
2016
Machine learning for OLEDs
In 2016, he is Kyulux's CEO as Alán Aspuru-Guzik develops machine-learning algorithms that can find new OLED materials. Kyulux holds an exclusive Harvard license for deep-learning chemical discovery.
-
2020–2024
Quantum software at Zapata
In 2020, he is Zapata Computing's CEO and founder, and the company develops quantum software and algorithms for business. In October 2024, he resigns as the company winds down operations.
-
2025
Co-founding SiC Systems
In 2025, he co-founds SiC Systems, a Technical University of Denmark spinout that combines agentic AI and quantum sensing for industrial applications. Its agents aim to orchestrate complex physical systems in real time.
-
November 2025
A biomanufacturing award
In November 2025, SiC Systems and ORCA Computing win the HPC Innovation Excellence Award for a biomanufacturing project with DTU and Novo Nordisk. The team's Sense–Infer–Control platform links multiscale digital twins with live process execution so AI agents can tune bioprocesses.
-
As of October 2026
Leading SiC Systems
As of October 2026, he is co-founder and CEO of SiC Systems. Its agentic AI platform pairs with quantum-accelerated computing to help engineering teams design chemical and biological plants.
