Antonio Lieto
Antonio Lieto is an artificial intelligence researcher whose work connects cognitive science, knowledge representation, and intelligent systems. He earned a 2012 PhD in formal ontologies and held research roles at the University of Turin through 2023. His work includes DUAL-PECCS, a system for conceptual categorization, and the 2021 book Cognitive Design for Artificial Minds. He received the 2018 Outstanding BICA Research Award and became an ACM Distinguished Speaker in 2020; he also served as vice-president of the Italian Association of Cognitive Sciences and joined the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence’s scientific board. He is an associate professor of computer science at the University of Salerno, a research associate at ICAR-CNR, and teaches Logic and Computation and Artificial Intelligence in 2026/2027.
