Alper Yilmaz

Also known as A Yilmaz, A. Yilmaz, Alper Yılmaz

Alper Yilmaz is a researcher whose work links machine learning with medical imaging and photogrammetry. At UCF, he scheduled his PhD final examination for July 2004 and taught Advanced Computer Vision in spring 2005. At Ohio State, he and PhD student Shehan Perera developed lung-ultrasound technology that uses deep learning to identify COVID-19; his startup Ubihere worked to commercialize tracking and localization technology for hospital resources. He served as editor-in-chief of Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing from 2016 to 2024 and led ISPRS Technical Commission II from 2020 to 2026. ASPRS honored him with the Photogrammetric Fairchild Award in 2025, ISPRS recognized his service in 2026, and as of October 2026 he is a professor at Ohio State.
