Guillaume Lample

As of October 2026, Guillaume Lample is co-founder and Chief Science Officer of Mistral AI, a French AI company. He studied at École polytechnique in the class of 2011, alongside Arthur Mensch. He co-authored research on unsupervised machine translation in 2018 and on cross-lingual language models in 2019. He co-founded Mistral AI in April 2023 with Arthur Mensch and Timothée Lacroix, and he is among the authors of Mistral 7B and Mixtral of Experts. Mistral AI, which he co-founded, raised €1.7 billion in September 2025 in a round led by ASML.
