Marco Camisani Calzolari

Marco Camisani Calzolari is a technology communicator whose work brings AI into public discussion. He began communications consulting for institutions and major corporations in 1995 and developed an algorithm he believed could distinguish human Twitter users from bots in 2012. A UCL case study examined his work making complex technology accessible in 2022, and he joined Italy’s committee for drafting its national AI strategy in 2023. In 2024, he published Cyberumanesimo about artificial intelligence, ethics, democracy and work and received the title of Knight of Italy’s Order of the Star; in February 2025, he served as science communicator for Italy’s Punti Digitale Facile campaign. As of October 2026, he serves on the committee updating Italy’s National AI Strategy and teaches Cyber-Humanities at San Raffaele.

    In November 2023, he joins Italy’s 13-member government Coordination Committee as a science communicator; the committee helps draft the national AI strategy.

    He publishes Cyberumanesimo in 2024, a book about artificial intelligence, ethics, democracy and work.

    In February 2025, he serves as the science communicator for Italy’s Punti Digitale Facile campaign, which promotes basic digital skills and access to public services.
