Jaeho Kim
Also known as 김재호
Jaeho Kim is a time-series machine learning researcher whose position paper on AI conference peer review received an ICML 2025 Outstanding Position Paper Award. He joined Seulki Lee's Embedded AI Lab in October 2022 and graduated with a Ph.D. from UNIST in August 2025, after first-authoring CAFO, a feature-centric explainer for time series classification, in 2024. From 2025 to 2026, he worked as a postdoc in the Actionable Intelligence Lab at Korea University with Changhee Lee, and in June 2026 he posted T2SP, a program-based representation of time series for language models. UNIST gave him its Best Researcher Award (Graduate Thesis Award) in 2026. He is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Virginia, where he works with Tom Hartvigsen in the RAVE group on temporal world models.

Timeline
-
October 2022–August 2025
Ph.D. in UNIST's Embedded AI Lab
He joins Seulki Lee's Embedded AI Lab in October 2022 and graduates in August 2025, earning his Ph.D. at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST).
-
2024
CAFO explanations for time series
In 2024, he is first author of CAFO, a feature-centric explanation method for multivariate time series classification, written with Seok-Ju Hahn, Yoontae Hwang, Junghye Lee and Seulki Lee. The paper is presented as an oral at KDD 2024.
-
May 2025
A peer review position paper
In May 2025, he posts a position paper with Yunseok Lee and Seulki Lee on the review process at major AI conferences. It argues for turning the one-way review system into a bi-directional feedback loop in which authors evaluate review quality and reviewers earn formal accreditation.
-
2025
ICML Outstanding Position Paper
At ICML 2025, the peer review paper receives an Outstanding Position Paper award, with Yunseok Lee and Seulki Lee as coauthors.
-
2025–2026
Postdoc at Korea University
From 2025 to 2026, he works as a postdoc in the Actionable Intelligence Lab at Korea University, with Prof. Changhee Lee.
-
June 2026
Time series as structured programs
In June 2026, he posts T2SP with Changhun Oh, Seokhyun Lee, Irina Rish and Changhee Lee. The training-free method represents a time series as a structured symbolic program, so that off-the-shelf language models can reason about trends, periods and salient events.
-
2026
UNIST graduate thesis award
He receives the UNIST Best Researcher Award (Graduate Thesis Award) in 2026.
-
Since October 2026
Postdoc at the University of Virginia
In October 2026, he begins a postdoctoral position at the University of Virginia in the RAVE group, where he works with Prof. Tom Hartvigsen on temporal world models.
