Omar Sultan Al Olama

Also known as Omar Al Olama

Omar Sultan Al Olama is a UAE minister who helped develop national AI policy and took part in international AI governance work. He earned a business administration degree in 2011 and became Director of the World Government Summit Organization in 2016. He became Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence in 2017, after contributing to the UAE’s AI strategy, and his portfolio expanded to digital economy and remote work applications in 2020. In 2023, he joined the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Body on AI and was named a TIME100 AI Shaper; as of October 2026, he is Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Vice-Chair of the World Governments Summit Organization.

    The UN named him a member of the Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence.
