Dapeng Oliver Wu

Also known as Dapeng Wu, 吳大鵬

Dapeng Oliver Wu is a Chair Professor of Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong whose research spans artificial intelligence, network science, communications and computer vision. He earned degrees in Wuhan and Beijing and a Carnegie Mellon doctorate in 2003, then joined the University of Florida, where he won an NSF CAREER award in 2007 and became an IEEE Fellow in 2013. From 2017 to 2020 he edited IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, a journal he founded, and he directed the NSF Center for Big Learning. After moving from Florida to City University of Hong Kong by 2023, he lectured in April 2023 on AI security, including a data-agnostic model stealing attack on deep neural networks. He is founding Editor-in-Chief of Transactions on Artificial Intelligence and leads GRF projects on vision-language models and federated learning.
