Bill Triggs
Bill Triggs is a computer vision researcher who studied physics and maths at Auckland, the Australian National University and Oxford. In 2005 he and Navneet Dalal presented histograms of oriented gradients for human detection at CVPR, and the method's use became widespread. In 2006 he, Navneet Dalal and Cordelia Schmid applied HOG detectors to human detection in films and videos. He worked with the LEAR team from 2003 to 2007. As of October 2026, he is a CNRS researcher and deputy director of the Laboratoire Jean Kuntzmann in Grenoble.
