Charless C. Fowlkes
Also known as Charless Fowlkes
Charless Fowlkes is a computer vision researcher whose work covers object recognition and image segmentation. He earned an honors BS at Caltech in 2000 and a computer-science PhD at UC Berkeley in 2005. In 2001 he co-wrote a paper with David Martin, Doron Tal and Jitendra Malik about a database of human-segmented natural images. His work on contextual models for object recognition received the David Marr Prize in 2009, and IEEE gave him the Helmholtz Prize in 2015 for his 2001 paper. He is a professor in computer science at UC Irvine.
