Alejandro Frangi

Also known as Alex Frangi, Alejandro Federico Frangi

Alejandro Frangi is a Bicentennial Turing Chair in Computational Medicine at The University of Manchester, and his work applies machine learning and deep learning to medical imaging. He studied telecommunications engineering in Barcelona, graduating in 1996, and later completed a PhD at Utrecht University. His research group produced two spin-off companies, Clintelis in 2009 and GalgoMedical in 2013. He became an IEEE Fellow in 2014 and joined Leeds in 2018 as Diamond Jubilee Chair in Computational Medicine. The European Research Council gave his INSILICO project an Advanced Grant in 2023, and the project tests medical technologies on digital twins of patients.
