Donald C. Wunsch II
Also known as Donald Wunsch
Donald Wunsch II is a professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T), where he directs the Kummer Institute Center for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems. He earned a doctorate in electrical engineering at the University of Washington in 1991, and his Boeing work culminated in a senior principal scientist role. He then moved to Texas Tech University as an assistant professor, and in 1999 he joined the electrical and computer engineering department at Missouri S&T. He is a former president of the International Neural Networks Society (INNS), which gave him its Gabor Award in 2015 and its Ada Lovelace Service Award in 2019. IEEE named him a recipient of the 2023 Computational Intelligence Society Neural Networks Pioneer Award, and in 2025 he won an Outstanding Paper Award at the IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence.
