Clara Chappaz

Clara Chappaz is a French policy official whose work covers AI adoption, national strategy, and digital diplomacy. After Southeast Asian e-commerce and Vestiaire Collective, she led Mission French Tech and then held France’s AI and digital affairs portfolio. As minister, she launched Osez l’IA to spread AI across French companies. After representing France abroad as its digital and AI ambassador, she became President Emmanuel Macron’s adviser on attractiveness, AI, and digital affairs in August 2026.

  1. By 2019

    A career across e-commerce

    After ESSEC, she worked in Southeast Asian e-commerce at Zalora and completed a Harvard MBA, where she co-founded Lullaby, a secondhand platform for children’s goods. She joined Vestiaire Collective in 2019.

  2. 2021–2024

    Leading Mission French Tech

    She led La French Tech Mission from 2021, supporting the international growth of French start-ups. In January 2024, she was due to discuss AI at Davos with Business France president Pascal Cagni.

  3. 2024–2025

    A portfolio for AI

    She was appointed Secretary of State and later Minister Delegate for AI and Digital Affairs in 2024. She drove France’s National AI Strategy, promoted AI adoption, and worked on digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, and online child protection.

  4. July 2025

    AI for every business

    She launched Osez l’IA, a national plan to spread AI across French companies, at Bercy on 1 July 2025.

  5. December 2025–July 2026

    Representing France abroad

    She served as France’s Ambassador for Digital Affairs and AI. In March 2026, she opened an EU–Latin America and Caribbean cybersecurity dialogue. In June 2026, she joined an OpenAI Forum discussion on youth wellbeing and AI.

  6. Since August 2026

    Advising the president on AI

    She advises President Emmanuel Macron on attractiveness, artificial intelligence, and digital affairs.
